Around Here Somewhere....
So we finally got our new puppy this past Saturday thanks to a rescue in Chiefland, Florida.
Tucker is an 8wk old male american bulldog/gsd cross. He already got to meet Nanci with Ella and Bella and is settling in at home now with our furry pack of cats and one dog. Loving, mellow little guy - I think he will fit right in!

Hey Katie,
that little bugger is A-D-O-R-A-B-L-E !!! Congrats on the sweet puppy !!

Walter
:crazy02:BOUT' CORNS !!

Absolutely adorable! Can't wait to meet this cutie in person!

Not too sure about the "8 weeks" and "American Bulldog/GSD" parts however. I would be more apt to say 6 weeks, 7 max, and will hold off on breed for the moment, but the size doesn't seem right (way too small for those breeds), too much curl in the tail, and the whole head is off a bit. There is herding dog in there...a lot, but I'm seeing more Aussie or Border, maybe Sheltie, but could have smaller fuzzy fox-type breeds in there. And I see nothing that even hints that a bulldog of any variety is part of the mix.

Katie - He is too cute!!!! He looks like there is some Keeshond in there somewhere. I just read an article that said that a mixed breed may look like he has a certain breed, but a lot of times that breed isn't even in the mix when they do a DNA test. Whatever he is if I was closer I would steal him!! :dgrin:

Susan - if you saw the rest of the litter - there were two that looked very much American Bulldog and one that looked very much GSD. The pups were born at the rescue directly. This guy was about middle of the litter as far as size and was the only "fuzzy" one.
The mother was confirmed as an American Bulldog mix. I don't know how they know/don't know about the father but they believed him to be a GSD mix. So with the 'mix' at the end of both I am sure there are other things at play here as well.
When you see him in person - the head size/shape and front quarters are "bigger" for lack of a better term - more like a bulldog would have. He almost seems a little misproportioned at the moment.

I had a wolf mix for many years. As a puppy, her coat and face were also similar to Tucker. She was mixed with GSD and Husky.
My aunt had a Keeshond too. I always thought he reminded me of a little Ewok!

There's no way to really tell, even by DNA testing. A breeder I know had one of his quite obvious purebred from champion lines Dachshund tested a few years back and the results came back that he was part Cocker Spaniel and part Australian Shepherd. And, a litter could have more than one father. We'll just have to wait to see what he grows into...35 lbs or 150 lbs! And it would be to your benefit if he doesn't show obvious bully traits, insurance and liability issues and all.

Remember that Alyssum, my fluffy cockapoo-looking thing came back as 1/8 cocker, 1/8 chihuahua, 1/8 maltese.... and 1/8 sharpei.

That said, I'm going to lay a vote on the 'different father' option.

Really! Cuteness DEMANDS almost daily photo posting!

LOL you guys! I have managed to snag a few more pics over the week, but with working all day, not as many as I would like. I am hoping the weather will stay nice and I can get some this weekend.

Definately cute! I too want to see more pictures of him. As for his breed, that is something you will never really know unfortunately. DNA tests are not reliable at all and American Bulldogs are not recognised on any DNA tests that I know of. I have AB's.....I could post pics if you want to compare your adorable little fluffball to them :)

Per the request for more puppy pics...

It seems his favorite toys right now are cat toys... he particularly loves this one as it makes chirping noises. No worries - the cats never wanted it anyways!
